What to Expect
Speech Therapy is not just for children. Many adults find the sessions productive and impact on their everyday lives. As an adult, you can expect to be treated with respect and play an active role in deciding the goals, materials and direction that the therapy will take. Assessments are an hour in length. Therapy sessions for stuttering and articulation are usually 45 minutes in length. Accent reduction sessions will require a full hour in order to allow for practice time within the session. Deborah will cater to your goals and budget in planning the frequency of the sessions.
As a parent of 3 children herself, Deborah understands that parents want to make sure that their children are approached with a kind and gentle manner. The sessions are fun. Having said that, Deborah’s experience and energy enable her to work with many learning styles and when necessary, behaviour and attention issues. Deborah has “lots of tricks up her sleeve” to make sure that her students focus and learn while having fun. Children are given a prize from the prize basket at the end of each visit for co-operating, which makes it all worthwhile!
